Summer Reflection

Summer has flown by. It is already halfway over, yet I still feel so unfulfilled with what I have done. Every summer, we make plans and have hopes that our summer will be like what we see in the movies. We set our expectations so high we can never achieve them.

Growing up, my dream summer was working at the resort where Troy Bolton and his squad worked at over the summer in High School Musical 2. That was my dream summer for several years when I was younger because it looked like so much fun.

My summer dreams this year was to visit home at least three times to see my friends and family. I also wanted to read books, attend concerts, work, take online summer classes, focus on self-care, and most importantly enjoy summer. I was lucky enough to meet most of my goals, but why do I still feel as if I have done nothing?

One way to get over this feeling as I have learned is to reflect. If you have read my blog before, or know me personally, you know I love some reflection time.

Here is my summer recap and reflection so far.

I started the summer by going home for a week. I spent the week spending time with my family and friends. I attended the music festival Bottlerock. Bottlerock is a three-day music festival in Napa Valley. This year I saw Mumford and Sons, Logic, Madison Beer, Harry Hudson, One Republic, and several other well-known artists.

After that, I returned to San Diego for a week to work and focus on my online school classes. I then took the train up to Los Angeles because Danielle and I were going up to Napa to celebrate my 20th birthday. I’m very grateful that I have such an awesome friend and roommate, such as her. We had so much fun on my trip home. I have a whole blog post on that trip if you want to read more about it in detail.

After my birthday trip home, I went back up to Orange County to visit my two guys friends that live in Irvine. When I returned to San Diego, I moved into a house with some of my best friends.

Several days after moving in, my brother and his best friend came to stay with me for a weekend, and we went to the Khalid concert. It was a lot of fun to have them with me and show them what my life is like in college.

About a week later, I was feeling a tad homesick, so I ended up flying home and staying with my family for the 4th of July. It was nice to sit and relax with the people that I love most.

I also was able to complete two online class. Sometimes the best way to get out of a rut is to write about what you have done. It helps you reflect and realize that you have achieved many of the goals you set for yourself.

I hope your summer has been as great as mine.

Forever Always,

Emily
