Here's to 2019!

Since the new year is starting, I wanted to share my new goals or resolutions for the new year. I personally, don’t believe in relations for a year, but I do believe that it is important to constantly grow as a person. So here is my list.

1. I want to travel more. Being a full-time college student makes it hard to travel, but I hope to explore more places, while still living on a college student’s budget. I would love to travel to New York City this summer. I also would like to spend some time in Los Angeles and maybe explore some museums. I think traveling is my top goal for 2019. Last year, I was lucky enough to travel all over the western part of the country, so I hope I can visit the eastern part of the country this year.

2. I want to get into my major. This is something that I have been working hard for, and hopefully, 2019 will be the year it happens. I have been working hard for the past year and a half and will continue to work hard until I get in. If that doesn’t work out, I now have a backup plan. Always, have a plan B.

3. I want to get a job. I have been wanting a part-time job, either on my school’s campus or close by. I have already started to apply for some. I would love to work on campus, but if I can’t I would also like to work at the mall close to my campus.

4. I want to refocus my attention to going back to the gym. Last semester, I was not as good about going to the gym as I have been in the past. I’m hoping to get back into a routine, once I’m back at school. I’m hoping buying some new workout clothes will inspire my return to the gym. My goal is to go to the gym at least once a week.

5. My next goal also has to do with getting healthy. I want to start cooking healthier. I already eat relatively healthy, but I would like to be more conscious about what I’m putting into my body. I want to meal prep more often so I won’t grab unhealthy options as often as I have in the past.

6. I want to write every day again. My freshman year of college, I would write every day, and I want to do the same in 2019. I think writing every day helped me reflect on who I was. It allowed me to grow and validate my own feelings, in my own words. It also allowed me to write down all the things that upset me or made me happy that day, which allows me to reflect and find ways to make the next day better.

7. Personally, I would rather spend my money on experiences, rather than items. With that said, I want to go to as many concerts as possible. I already am going to one music festival in the spring, but I would love to go to at least one other concert. Some artists that are on my bucket list: Logic, Kendrick, Travis Scott, Khalid, Post Malone, G Eazy, along with many others.

8. I want to volunteer more. Every semester, I volunteer for six hours, but I would like to volunteer more often. Last year, I volunteered at a cat shelter, which I enjoyed, and I hope to continue to volunteer there. I want to find some other organizations that I can volunteer or intern at.

9. I want to read more. In 2018, I started to read a lot of poetry books, which became my obsession. I would like to continue to read more poetry books and find other things to read that intrigue my interest.

10 . Lastly, I want to continue to become a better daughter, sister, roommate, and friend. I know sometimes I have my moments, but don’t we all? I’m so grateful for my friends both in school and my friends at home. So, let’s get this bread, as they say!

Forever Always,

Emily
