A lot has changed

I lost touch with writing. I don’t know why. I think I just got busy with life and forgot about what used to be one of my favorite things. I thought it would be a good idea to do a life update for all my readers. A lot has changed in my life in the last several months. So let’s get everyone up to speed.

About two months ago, I was laid off from my job. There’s really no other way to put it other than it sucks. In the past two months, I’ve been working part-time for a local yoga studio as their Social Media and Partnerships Manager. When I’m not working for Yoga Garden San Francisco, I’m working on building my freelance social media business. So far, I have three signed clients, and I’m working on adding more to the list.

In addition to what I’ve been focusing on career-wise, I’ve been taking the time to focus on my hobbies, which include sewing, yoga, reading, exploring the city, and taking/creating content for my personal social media platforms. I take sewing classes once a week, and it’s been a great experience. I even bought my own sewing machine. I love being able to design my own clothes and make my friends and family custom gifts.

When it comes to reading, I’ve been reading pretty much non-stop. Since being laid off, I have read about 8 books, which is a lot for me. My goal is to read 20 books by the end of the year. I definitely think that I can reach that goal. If you want to keep up with what I’m reading, follow me on Goodreads.

When I’m not reading, I’m taking the time to explore the city. Lately, I’ve been making my way through the city’s different thrift and vintage stores. If you want to see my favorite places to shop, read my previous blog. Some other places I have been exploring are the Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park, the Legion of Honor Museum, Cole Valley, the Haight, and NoPa. I’m continuing to make a list of some of my favorite places, so hopefully, more San Francisco content is coming soon.

Even though I've been spending my time exploring the city, I would still call myself a homebody. My favorite part of the day is spending time with my dog, Dolly. Dolly came into my life about six months ago. She won me over when I was visiting the Napa Animal Shelter with my mom. Dolly is a 15-year-old chihuahua mix that has no teeth and no lower jaw. Her tongue hangs freely. She has brought so much joy into my life. She fits perfectly into my life and is a homebody like me. She is scared of a lot of things, but she’s slowly getting better at adjusting to new things. She finally isn’t scared to walk through the hallway in my apartment, which is a huge step for her. She’s made a great addition to my life, and I’m looking forward to more adventures with her.

So as you can see, a lot has changed. I’m excited and nervous about my future. I’m grateful for all my friends and family that have supported me during this uneasy time. I’m continuing to focus on my hobbies and growing my freelance business. If you, or anyone you know, needs help with their social media, let me know.

Forever Always,

Emily
